Based on the statistics since the beginning of the 21st century, the article shows the main positive ODI-impacts, including sales growth of affiliates overseas, their productivity, growth of multinational enterprises’ capitalization, increase of home countries’ GNI, and strengthening of the country’s international investment position. It is stated that these benefits motivate home countries to stimulate ODI by national companies within the framework of ODI-policy. Systematized are the components of the current stage of ODI-policy: identified are specifics of its formation and development in the 21st century based on the experience of major developed and developing countries-investors.
