"Saving Lives Together": BSEU Explains How to Become a Blood Donor and Why It's Important
On March 3, the Belarusian State University of Economics hosted a lecture titled "Saving Lives Together" featuring Yulia Chabanenko, a representative of the Republican Scientific and Practical Center for Transfusiology and Medical Biotechnology.
The specialist explained who can become a blood donor, the procedure, and who ultimately benefits from donated blood. Yulia emphasized that blood components are needed daily. A single donation can save three recipients.
Any Belarusian citizen between the ages of 18 and 65, weighing over 55 kg, and with no medical contraindications can become a blood donor. First-time donors are required to provide a passport, military ID (for young men), and a medical record documenting any past illnesses.
Students learned about the compensation available to donors and who can receive the title of "Honorary Donor of the Republic of Belarus."
The meeting included videos featuring people whose lives or loved ones were saved by a blood transfusion. Those in the audience who had donated blood multiple times also shared their experiences.
The next Donor Day at BSEU will be held on March 17. We invite everyone to join this good cause!
