September 25 – Unified Safety Day in the Republic of Belarus

On September 25, 2025, the Republic of Belarus will hold Unified Safety Day. The goal of the event is to train citizens on how to respond to fires and other emergency situations, as well as how to provide first aid.

The heads of enterprises and organizations, regardless of ownership, play a key role in organizing and implementing the events. They are the primary implementers of Unified Safety Day at their locations. On this day, Ministry of Emergency Situations personnel will visit several organizations to provide advisory assistance on training exercises, including fire evacuation.

Government agencies, in collaboration with the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Health, and the Belarusian Red Cross Society, will organize thematic training sites in public places. At these sites, everyone will be able to gain practical knowledge and skills necessary for safe behavior in emergency situations.

For the convenience of citizens and organizations, an interactive map of the event locations has been prepared and is available on the official website of the Ministry of Emergency Situations. A specialized section with audio and video materials, as well as visual aids, has also been created to assist managers and employees in preparing for and conducting the Unified Safety Day. https://mchs.gov.by/edinyy-den-bezopasnosti/
The Ministry of Emergency Situations calls on everyone to understand and actively participate in the event. Safety begins with each of us.

Reference: Unified Safety Day has been held in the republic since 2018 at the initiative of the State Secretariat of the Security Council. The impetus for the Unified Safety Day was the tragedy at the Zimnyaya Vishnya shopping center in the Russian city of Kemerovo, where a fire in 2018 killed 60 people, including 37 children, and injured 79 others. At that time, the building had no fire warning or evacuation system in place. No attempts were made to prevent panic, and a stampede developed during the fire. Many people died near an emergency exit that was locked. Due to a late fire alarm, some patrons died in one of the cinemas, as the fire cut off escape routes.
