BSEU Student Wins Discovery-2025 International Competition

Natalia Petrova, a student at the Graduate School of Management and Business, has won the Discovery-2025 international scientific initiative competition, taking second place in the "Creative Vision of the Year" category.
Natalia Petrova's interest in science began in 2016, when she was a first-year student at Vitebsk State Technological University. Even then, she actively participated in scientific competitions and conferences. In 2023, while continuing her studies at BSEU in the Graduate School of Management and Business, Natalia returned to research, participating in and winning numerous scientific events and authoring publications in international journals and collections.
"I am very grateful to all my academic advisors who supported me throughout my career and believed in my ideas," Natalia notes.
The topic of the research submitted to the Discovery-2025 competition arose from observations of current events in the country. Frequent references to pricing in the media and official sources prompted Natalia to study state regulation of prices and tariffs from a legal perspective.
"I approached Violetta Konstantinovna Ladutko, Head of the Department of State and Legal Disciplines, with a request to be my academic supervisor. And I'm very glad that she agreed," Natalia shares.
The article, "State Regulation of Prices and Tariffs in the Republic of Belarus: Current Status and Development Prospects," included a comprehensive analysis of legislation, the views of various authors, and control mechanisms, and proposed ways to improve legal regulation in this area.
Participation in the international competition was an important milestone in Natalia's academic career. Winning not only brought personal joy but also added to BGEU's collection of achievements.
"When the competition results were announced, my joy knew no bounds. "Considering that the competition was international, I felt even more proud," Natalia recalls.
The research didn't remain within the competition. The materials were presented at the XLIX International Scientific and Practical Conference "Main Directions of Development of Modern Economic Thought in the 21st Century," and the article was published in the international scientific journal Science Time.
Natalia is confident that every student can find their niche in science if they choose an interesting topic and aren't afraid to seek support.
"It's important to choose a topic that truly interests you and not be afraid to suggest it to your professor. Your supervisor will definitely help and guide you," she advises.
