X International Scientific and Practical Conference "Modern Mechanism of Functioning of the Trade Business and Tourism Industry: Reality and Prospects"

On December 4-5, the X International Scientific and Practical Conference "Modern Mechanism of Functioning of the Trade Business and Tourism Industry: Reality and Prospects" was held at BSEU.

The event, organized by the Faculty of Commerce and Tourism Industry, confirmed its status as a key platform for discussing the current state, problems, and prospects for the development of commerce, commodity science, tourism, and the real estate market. More than 500 applications were received from undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate students, and young researchers from Russia, Uzbekistan, China, and Belarus. In addition to BGEU, the conference was attended by representatives from St. Petersburg State University of Economics (St. Petersburg), the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation (Moscow), the University of Science and Technology (Tashkent), the Russian Customs Academy, and the Plekhanov Russian University of Economics. Plekhanov Moscow State University (Minsk branch), the Institute of Continuous Education of the Beijing University of Chemical Technology (Beijing), Belarusian State University of Physical Culture, Sport, and Tourism, Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno, Masherov Voronezh State University, Belarusian National Technical University, the BSU Institute of Business, and Stroymash, among others.

The conference was moderated by Irina Vladimirovna Prygun, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Commerce and Tourism Industry, PhD in Economics, Olga Anatolyevna Kasabutskaya, Senior Lecturer in the Department of Commerce and Real Estate Market, and Yulia Nikolaevna Kardash, PhD in Engineering, Associate Professor in the Department of Commodity Science and Expertise.

Professor Alexei Alexandrovich Bykov, Vice-Rector for Research at the Belarusian State University of Economics, Doctor of Economics, and Doctor of Science, addressed the conference participants via video link. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of combining the efforts of science, education, and the real economy to address pressing issues, and also noted the growing interest in the Belarusian scientific school from Asian research centers. The plenary session, held online on December 4, was the central event of the conference. The presentation, "The Integration of New Uzbekistan into Global Trade," by representatives of the University of Science and Technology (Uzbekistan): Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation, Doctor of Economics, Professor Zumrat Gaibnazarova, and Senior Lecturer in the Department of Economics, Madina Gafarovna Tuychieva, went beyond the outlined scope, covering issues of the development and tourism potential of the two countries.

In his report, "Current Issues in the Development of the Tourism Industry," Dmitry Viktorovich Morozov, Director of the National Tourism Agency and Candidate of Historical Sciences, described the state of foreign and domestic tourism in the Republic of Belarus, emphasized the importance of implementing innovations in this area, and also focused on opportunities for future young professionals to acquire professional competencies.

The presentation by Svetlana Yuryevna Kozhevnikova, Head of the Department of Tourism, generated great interest from the audience. Department of Commerce and Trade Business at the St. Petersburg State University of Economics, PhD in Economics, and Associate Professor, presented a paper on "Using Neural Networks in Educational and Professional Activities in Commerce: Opportunities and Threats."

Of particular significance was the presentation by Natalya Sergeevna Laptenok, Director of the State Enterprise "Beltechnokhleb," PhD in Engineering, and Veronika Zenonovna Zubel, engineer and microbiologist, on "Technology for Growing Thick Rye Sourdough Based on Pure Cultures of Domestically Produced Microorganisms and Its Application in Bread Baking," which linked fundamental research with applied solutions in the field of import substitution.

During the break between the plenary session and the offline work of the sections (including those in English), library staff organized an exhibition of scientific and educational literature in Building 5 and introduced participants to new publications on the conference topics. The conference included a series of themed events for participants, including master classes on "Using 3D Technologies to Promote Your Own Brand," "Gastrobox: Made in Belarus," "Emotional Service as a Conceptual Element, Emotional Service as a Sales Element," "The Real Estate Market as Part of the Retail Business: Modern Tools for Attracting and Retaining Customers," and a quiz tournament, "Travel Hub," in English.
