The Gorlitsa Ensemble at the Presentation of a Unique Belarusian Element

The Gorlitsa Folk Song Ensemble of the Belarusian State University of Economics took part in the presentation of the "Neglyubka Textile Tradition" Belarusian element of the Vetka District, which was officially inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in December 2025.

The event took place at the National Library of Belarus and brought together a wide range of guests, including representatives of government and cultural institutions, artisans and keepers of tradition, folk art researchers, and creative groups.

The Gorlitsa ensemble's vibrant performance was a true highlight of the event. Music and folk songs highlighted the unity of Belarus's musical and craft heritage.

The "Neglyubka Textile Tradition" is a unique phenomenon of Belarusian culture, originating in the 17th-18th centuries in the village of Neglyubka, Vetka District, Gomel Region. Its distinctive feature is a special technique of weaving towels, in which the pattern appears only after the work is completed. The symbolism of the ornaments reflects the worldview and spiritual values of the people.

The inclusion of this tradition on the UNESCO World Heritage List is recognition of its uniqueness and an important step in preserving Belarus's cultural heritage.
